CERIDWEN CREATIONS
|
i’ve always been interested in music-in piano and in singing to be exact. i graduated from a university and an internship in Music Therapy and had worked for quite some years as a Music Therapist under all kinds of hats such as Recreational Therapist-Music Therapist for the state of NY, Music Therapist under a grant given to the Occupational Therapy program for a community inpatient hospital locally and as clinician for the Topeka VA Hospital, KS, as well as for mental health institutions in IL, NY, WI. i have also worked with children and adolescents with physical disabilities as well as those with emotional difficulties. With a relocation to Wisconsin, i worked in my field for awhile but the grant ran out and i was forced to turn elsewhere for employment. This started a ten-year career in retail management for firms like Waldenbooks, Victoria’s Secret as well as part-time retail employment. In my mid 30’s, i decided it was time to finally “go for it” with a singing career. At that time in my life, i’d already been singing Alto in a semi-professional group for about 8 years. For the next three years, i sang a solo gig in taverns & restaurants with my 6-string and 12-string guitars wired for sound and using my own sound system. My singing jobs ended when local bars started to have shorter bar time closings and restaurants could not afford live music in bars, instead turning to Kareoke machines. Hrmm…What do i do next? i went to work for a temp agency, learned the computer very well and seemed a natch at phone work.. But what had happened to my creativity? Blah. i began to miss it but thought-How can anyone really earn any money with creativity in any field unless they are so proficient? So, i turned from the idea of pursuing a creative endeavor for a career and captured a job through the temp agency for a clinic as a psychology transcriptionist. it was great because it was only for four hours/day, the pay was good, i was an independent worker (which i had to have!), i was working in the same office as my husband and my typing improved to over 100 words/minute. But, my hands gave out after 1 ½ years;not with carpal tunnel…other hand stuff. In order to save my 'piano fingers,'i quit that. Concurrently, a friend had told me she needed help in her business of hairwrapping and that she needed someone to make "extensions" for people to wear to extend their hairwraps. That is when i began part-time work for her, choosing to make extensions out of gemstones for their beauty but also, their properties of energy. This is when the door opened in many ways. From there, i taught myself how to make the different
pieces you see now. And i’ve taught
myself many, many things from book knowledge about gemstones. But most importantly to me, of course, is
the creative part of it all. That
includes getting in touch with Cerridwen first, then Gaia and
now, the Muses. They have taught me
so much. And They have taught me to
trust my intuition, creativity and body as a medium for the gifts i bring
to my work. That is why i call my
handwork, Ceridwen Creations.
The one “r” is intentional. i
would not presume to be so bold to use Her name as it is in actuality for my
business. She and i know that She is
every bit as much involved in Ceridwen Creations as am I. She is my Inspiration & Guide as She stirs Her cauldron of wisdom,
inspiration and intuition; She is Mother and Crone.
These are the reasons why i consider myself a co-creatrix in this endeavor. This was the seed energy of Ceridwen Creations…creatively
working with gemstones, finding my Wiccan path, using my creativity and
intuition to see it manifest into something tangible that really harmonizes
with another person’s being. This is my
happiness. This is the story. |
